Texas Rangers

One Riot, One RangerBadge2

From the Ranger’s own website:

The Texas Ranger Division is a major division within the Texas Department of Public Safety with lead criminal investigative responsibility for the following: major incident crime investigations, unsolved crime/serial crime investigations, public corruption investigations, officer involved shooting investigations, and border security operations.

What that doesn’t mention is that the Rangers have jurisdiction over “other” investigations, and that other tends to cover the things that go bump in the night. They’re part of the Special Operations Group (officially part of the SWAT unit, which ought to make supernaturals who get on the wrong side of the Rangers a little nervous). The members of this special team tend to be treated with a little less respect than their peers, which only serves to make those Rangers in this unit work harder to prove their value. Rangers that are sent after a supernatural threat are not to be messed with.

Exactly who in the organization and how high up in the organization knows what is really out there is unknown.

The Rangers Special Ops Unit is led by Jack Wesson. There aren’t too many major players in the department (the supernatural task force is massively understaffed), but one of the up-and-comers is William “Red” McClusky.
